Here's a little bit about the lady behind the lens of DWC
As a South Florida native, I was born in the sunshine and raised right next to the ocean. After 26 years of the beach life, I have made my home in the Rocky Mountains.
In February 2014, I packed up my life and my sweet little kitten (her name is Biggie Smalls), then drove out west to be with the man of my dreams (his name is Kay). Today our little family lives in Boulder, Colorado where the mountain view still takes my breath away.
Something you may not know about me is that I have a "day job" in a local hospital. As a Mammographer, I get to fulfill my dream of helping others in the community to educate and be an advocate for women's health and early detection of cancer. It's a very rewarding job!
I bought my first "real" film camera at a pawnshop when I was in high school. I fell in love with processing in a dark room and getting to know the ins and outs of my manual camera. When I started show a real interest in photography, my grandfather gifted me some of his old equipment. Although I most commonly use my digital SLRs, I still treasure all of my film cameras, especially my Polaroid Land Camera.
When photography is not keeping me busy, I am usually working on numerous craft projects, crocheting, knitting, painting, and beadwork. More recently I found a love for metalsmithing! I occasionally I sell my crafts on Etsy (DWC Creative) if I do not become too attached! It's an awesome feeling to be able to make something with your own hands. I also enjoy traveling, hiking in the mountains, finding treasures at thrift stores (vintage Pyrex!), watching cooking shows, and trying out local restaurants and microbreweries with Kay (he's a brewer!)
I absolutely love my job as a photographer. Photographing people in their element and showing off their beautiful personalities continues to be the truest reward. I like to call myself a "lifestyle photographer" because I am all about capturing authentic moments (versus over-posing and studio backdrops). These authentic moments are what are happening in your real life, with true emotion, with honesty, with genuine love, and in your environment. Whether it be an adventure to a beautiful landscape or in the comfort of your home, I will document the real! I aspire to capture memories that you will want to last a lifetime.
